Since we are all at home right now due to the current health crisis, I figured this would be the perfect time to start blogging again and featuring my class of 2020 seniors. I not only wanted to share some pictures from their sessions but I also wanted to highlight a little bit of who they are and how they are coping with this unique time in their lives. So I sent each of my seniors a few questions to add to the blog posts. First up is Rachel, a senior at Lewis Central High School. Rachel is an amazing soccer player and unfortunately her season is being put on hold at the moment, so let’s all do our part with social distancing so she can get back out on that field!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I hope to be graduated from college and beginning graduate school or my career, wherever my life has taken me. I hope to have built strong relationships, maintain some of the important ones I have already and grow closer to my family.
Name three things on your bucket list:
- Study abroad in Spain
- Swim with dolphins
- Go on a mission to a lesser-developed country and help families there
Best advice you’ve ever been given:
To go about your days with a routine. Waking up at around the same time, eating at the same time, exercising, and have special moments set aside to do school work and relax. It’s important to be flexible, but just being in control of that aspect gives a peace of mind. I feel it makes me more productive and happier. Even without going to school, I still have the sense of a routine at home and being isolated doesn’t make me feel so down.
What is your favorite senior memory so far?
Being able to travel to the UNI dome and watch my school’s football team play at state!
What’s the first thing you’re going to do when social distancing is over?
Get a huge group of friends together to hang out and catch up!
What do you miss most during quarantine?
Soccer season
What has been your favorite thing to pass the time while social distancing?
Cleaning, reading and working out a lot! I also got to spend time with my sisters and nephews, which was fun!
Here’s what Rachel had to say about her senior session with Iris Images:
“I loved my experience taking pictures with Iris Images! I’m not the most confident or comfortable person in front of the camera, but I felt like I could be myself and that was extremely encouraging. I had a ton of fun and the process was made super simple!”
